Rambling Session - Wedding Weekend (05/13/2024)

Well this morning was a recovery morning for me because I chose sleep over working in the garage, so I don’t have a cigar to report on.

This past weekend was my best friend’s wedding, in which I was best man. It was a great time, a beautiful ceremony, and a heck of a reception!

I didn’t do much partying - as these days I am not much for drinking and I start to checkout after 10-10:30, but I did stay up pretty late the night of the rehearsal dinner, and though I was definitely the earliest departure from the after party, I did make it to near midnight!

Between the late nights, the little alcohol I had, the lengthy travel times, and the emotions, I got home feeling quite exhausted yesterday and could’ve used far more sleep than I got today..

I mentioned some time back that I had the honor of being best man. It was truly an honor - that wasn’t just a line in the speech. As someone that focuses most of my time towards my wife, daughter, and myself, this was my only chance of being named best man. Before I was given the opportunity, I always said I would never do it because of that daunting speech. However, when Mike asked me, it was a no brainer. When I was given the chance to opt out of a speech, it was also a no brainer. The man chose me, I am proud of that, and I damn well think he deserves to have someone tell everyone there that he is a great person, great friend, and will be a great husband.

That is what I did, and I can say that I am very happy with how the speech went. I will also say that after managing the stress of holding onto the rings for 4 hours the speech was kind of a cakewalk. I don’t know why I stressed myself out so bad about those damn rings, but I checked my pockets every 5 minutes or less for 4 hours.. Once I handed them to the priest, my wife said she could see the relief on my face..

At any rate, it was a great time. I am super happy for the newly married couple, and if you read this Mike - congratulations again.

Take care,

-Trevor
