This morning I was a little slow moving and wasn’t sure what to get into early, so I opted to light up a BLK WKS Killer Bee Connecticut and go outside to hit a few wedge shots. The Killer Bee Connie is one of my favorites from the company. Always a super solid Connecticut that isn’t “your grandfather’s Connecticut”, but also isn’t an obvious over exaggeration of that assessment.
I mentioned the glow in the dark balls I use a little while back. I am down to 3 of the original 6. These 3 are still going strong, but the other 3 started to not function properly. They would either not light up at all, or start going out within a minute or two of landing. That makes it a little hard to find in the pasture in the dark hours of the morning.
I didn’t have much time so I was just hitting some 60-70 yard 56 degree wedge pitch shots, fooling around with a few things, as I also do. I am a tinkering. With everything I do I am always trying to improve things. Even though my wedge game has been about the only solid part about my game the few times I’ve played this year (mainly because I frequently hit wedges shots in the pasture), I still like to play around with things to see what I can do to either improve or to hit different types of shots.
As for the rest of my game, as I mentioned, I haven’t played much, so I don’t have a ton of feedback on my longer clubs. However, I can confirm that 56 degree through 9i are pretty solid. 8i - 7i are oddly not great. 6i has been super solid. Then 5i - driver has been a wreck… I did get some foam balls that fly pretty well actually, for hitting those longer clubs around the pasture. I am figuring a few things out, but something just doesn’t feel right with those longer club (and the 8i and 7i for some reason).
I decided the other day to order some lead tape to tinker around with on those clubs. I feel like I don’t have much feel with those clubs and I can’t seem to get a consistent swing or maintain club face control with them. I have never toyed with lead tape, but I feel like a little more weight on the heads of those clubs will at least help me get a better feel for where the club head is in my swing.
Has anyone fooled with lead tape at all? Have any tips?
Take care,
-Trevor
