Rambling Session - Crook of the Crown (02/15/2024)

This morning was another cold one, however, I felt like doing some work in the garage this morning. My accompaniment was a Stolen Throne Crook of the Crown Robusto that my daughter had pulled off the counter a couple weeks back and destroyed the head-end of. So by the time I cut off the wrecked portion, it was more like a petite robusto - which I love, so I was cool with it!

This year is the “Year of the Crook” for Stolen Throne cigars as it is the 5 year anniversary of the blend - company’s inaugural line. They have teased some special Crook releases that will be coming this year. I am quite excited for them as the Crook is certainly the best seller in the lineup. Though, personally, it may be my bottom of the lineup! That is not a knock at all to the blend because I enjoy it quite a bit, but their other lines seem to really hit the spot for me.

Anyhow, what do you think about anniversary cigars?

Personally I think this is a really great idea by the Throne guys! Anniversary blends are not uncommon, but I haven’t seen one presented quite like “The Year of the Crook” that celebrates a particular blend. I think that is a really neat spin on it - a kind of “dance with the one that brought you” concept.

Oftentimes companies will create a completely new blend to celebrate an important anniversary. I am in support of those too! I think that a company should celebrate their success. Sometimes, unfortunately, those anniversary blends seem like they’re phoned in, but then sometimes they really nail it - think Patina 5th Anniversary blend.

Anyhow, congrats to the Throne guys. Maybe I should submit a request for a petite robusto…
